The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization led by volunteers that provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. Our local chapter’s program provides services in four major areas. The Armed Forces Emergency Services aid service members and families with emergency communication and verification during times of crises such as illness, death, birth or financial difficulties. Our Blood Services provide for Bloodmobiles that collect blood and blood products throughout the community. Disaster Services help the community prepare, recover, and cope with natural and man-made disasters such as fires, ice storms, chemical spills, and transportation accidents. Our Health and Safety Services educate the public in lifesaving techniques which include: CPR (Adult, Infant, and Child), First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, CPR Automatic External Defibrillator, Lifeguarding, Water Safety, Swimming and other training tailored to meet the needs of specific groups.
